Architects Begin Software 'Workspace' Trials

Multi-award winning architectural practice Allford Hall Monaghan Morris (AHMM) has begun trials of Workspace, the business management software product from Union Square Software.

Over the next six months, Workspace's document and email management functionality will be fully rolled out across all 130 employees, based in London, Bristol ad Holland in order to improve company-wide access to projects.

Established 20 years ago, AHMM operates in a broad range of sectors, designing housing, schools, healthcare facilities, commercial and arts buildings, amongst other structures. AHMM projects have won awards from the RIBA, the British Construction Industry, and this year are shortlisted for the Stirling Prize and the Prime Minister’s Better Public Building Award.

Peter Morris, Partner at AHMM said: "Purchasing and trialling Workspace was a part of an overall risk management strategy. As a practice, we have always aimed to be well organised, and ensuring that our document and email management is as secure and robust as possible is a logical step for us.

"As such, given its positive and reputation within the market, Workspace seemed like the right fit for our business."

Workspace was designed to help firms within the architectural and construction industries manage information effectively and avoid the problems that occur with traditional storage systems when valuable business documentation and correspondence is lost or misfiled.

The software provides construction organisations with a simple method of filing, archiving and retrieving all documents through a central software portal that can be accessed by any employee or external parties with access rights.

Mr Morris concluded: "Workspace's critical advantage was its flexibility - compared to many other products we considered, Workspace proved to be vastly more scaleable, functional and streamlined. The administrative and organisational abilities this affords us will allow us, ultimately, to provide a smarter service to our clients."
