Proposed New Housing Scheme For Cheshire
The public across Cheshire are being asked for their views on a proposed new housing scheme called 'Cheshire homechoice'.
Cheshire homechoice is a new choice-based letting scheme, which gives residents more options about where they live. It introduces a new way of letting social housing across Cheshire from spring 2009.
Partners involved in the new scheme are Macclesfield Borough Council, Congleton Borough Council, Cheshire Peaks & Plains Housing Trust, Crewe & Nantwich Borough Council, Plus Dane Group, Macclesfield Borough Council and Wulvern Housing.
The new scheme has many benefits: Customers can fill in one application form to register for homes with all the participating housing organisations; Customers will be able to express an interest in homes that they are eligible for; Feedback by newsletter will be provided on how long customers have waited for a property and their level of priority; There will be one allocations policy so all homes will be allocated in the same way across the partnership area and there will be support available for vulnerable individuals
Project Manager Julie Griffin said: "The scheme is progressing very well, and we have received very positive feedback, everything is on track to launch in May 2009. Our customers also welcome the change on how social housing will be allocated under Cheshire homechoice, the system will make it easier for customers to understand and they will be able to choose where they want to live."
