CIOB Set For Online CPD

Construction News Image
The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) is set to develop a suite of web-based Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programmes for CIOB Members and industry professionals, in partnership with the CPD Alliance, an online learning initiative founded by Orkell.

Saleem Akram CIOB Director said: "Academic qualifications are obviously important but they still only say something about what you achieved at some point in the past, whereas a professional qualification must always say something about you now. This is why CPD is a requirement of many professional bodies and why we value it so highly.

"We recognise that our members want access to quality up-to-date learning resources wherever they are in the world and in an easy and flexible format. This new service will also allow users to record all their CPD activity online, and us as a professional body to monitor the success of their online CPD provision, providing a valuable addition to existing training resources.

"The CPD Alliance is recognised as a leading online learning provider with more than a million professionals able to access the system. This portal will not only be able to keep our members and other professionals educated on current industry issues, but with the level of other professional bodies using the system it will also give them the opportunity to develop new skills from other course providers."

Martin Avison, Orkell Commercial Director commented: "We are delighted to be working in partnership with the CIOB and to be providing e-learning courses in one of the world's largest and most diverse industries.

"Orkell work in partnership with a wide range of professional bodies to develop and deliver bespoke online CPD courses. However, it became apparent that what we delivered had a much wider appeal and as a result, Orkell developed the CPD Alliance, a centralised resource for approved online courses across industry sectors."
