Princess Anne Opens Phase 2 Of Liverpool One Development
Princess Anne is to officially open the second phase of the new development Liverpool One later today.
The launch will also give to the people of Liverpool a newly built open terrace featuring restaurants and bars alongside a new fourteen screen Odeon cinema and the 5 acre Chavasse Park.
Phase 1 launch of Liverpool One was brought forward by six months in order to open out Liverpool city centre to the tens of thousands of Liverpudlians and tourists flocking to the city to celebrate Capital of Culture. The launch saw hundreds of thousands of people come through the city in one day to see what was behind those hoardings.
Today will see the remaining street, park and terrace open to the public for the very first time with a monumental all day street festival - even bigger and better than impressive Phase 1 launch.
Focusing on the new Chavasse Park and the stunning terrace the festival will feature street artists, musicians, including local talent culminating with a stunning firework finale set to music that will light up the skies over Liverpool inviting visitors to access all areas for the first time. There will be a specially built bandstand with a 30 piece orchestra on hand to welcome people into this restyled city centre space.
Joanne Jennings, Chief Executive of Liverpool One said: "It's wonderful to finally be able to give people full access to the areas that have been under construction for so long. Liverpool One has been a phenomenal success for us, the retailers, and the city as a whole since Phase 1 launch back in May.
"The people of Liverpool will be able to see the stunning new environment that will be home to some fantastic brands coming to Liverpool One in the weeks ahead."
