E.ON's Kingsnorth Power Station Celebrates 280 Years Of Engineering Excellence

Construction News Image
Ten engineers at E.ON's Kingsnorth power station have been recognised for their long-term dedication to power station operation after notching up over 280 years of service between them.

Speaking at a special lunch held for the enthusiastic engineers, Plant Manager Alan Sanderson said: "This really is quite a record for us in terms of long service awards and just goes to show how passionate our guys are about their jobs.

"It's been a busy year for everyone on site, particularly with all the preparations we had to make ahead of the Camp for Climate Action, so I felt it was only right that we take the opportunity to recognise such an achievement."

The year 2008 marks either a 20 or 30 year anniversary for all the engineers, including Shift Team Leader Keith Masters who lives in Biddenden near Maidstone.

Keith said: "Having started out as an apprentice at Dungeness power station in 1978, I've certainly seen a lot and learnt a lot more - although I'm not quite sure where the time's gone!

"I'm genuinely passionate about what I do and can turn my hand to pretty much anything these days. But the best thing is knowing that we're a team, and that we're a team really delivering something for people - in our case, power for 1.5 million homes and businesses - no mean feat I can tell you."
