Icynene, the leading North American manufacturer of soft foam insulation products, has been awarded BBA (British Board of Agrément) Certification. This follows the European Technical Approval issued by VTT and ratified by the Members of EOTA, (the European Organisation for Technical Approvals) earlier this year.
The Agrément Certificate was awarded after Icynene successfully completed a comprehensive assessment, involving laboratory testing, on-site evaluations and inspections of the manufacturing operation. This will now enable Icynene to develop its operations in the UK market.
"This is an extremely important milestone for us as we seek to build our UK business," explained Jeff Hood, Vice-President of Business Development at Icynene Inc. "We are now able to respond to the demand for our product that has been building as news of the performance in other European markets reached UK specifiers and consumers."
"We are in the process of appointing licensed distributors and installers who complete the installation on-site for each application. Each of our new dealers will need to meet stringent applicant criteria and attend an intensive training programme, which includes product and equipment knowledge, installation and building science."
Founded in Canada in 1986, Icynene is the largest supplier of soft foam insulation material in North America and has participated in over 150,000 health, environmental and energy efficient building projects. It operates throughout the USA, Canada, Dubai, Mexico, Japan, Korea, China and Europe.
Soft foam is the fastest growing insulation material in the world today and the Icynene Insulation System®, a spray-in-place, expanding soft foam insulation and air barrier system is 100% water-blown and contains no harmful emissions. Applied as a liquid, Icynene expands to 100 times its volume in seconds to fill every crack and crevice while remaining flexible so that the integrity of the building envelope seal remains intact over time.
"As proven technology, Icynene® delivers multiple benefits including superior thermal performance with up to 50 percent in energy savings, healthier indoor air by reducing condensation-related mold and mildew and reduced sound transmission, explained Jeff Hood.
"It can be used in residential, commercial, and industrial applications involving all types of construction materials and is particularly popular with design professionals as it enables them to explore geometry and space without compromising building envelope performance. It has become the insulation of choice for numerous projects in affiliation with well-respected organisations including Health Houses and NextGen Homes,” added Mr Hood.
