Turner & Townsend has been appointed to work with Nottingham City Council on its pioneering workplace strategy project from February 2009. Turner & Townsend's strategic advice on the project will directly impact Nottingham City Council's key Improvement programme entitled 'Service Nottingham Better'.
In the current economic climate many organisations are seeking a marked improvement in the cost efficiency of offices and communal working spaces to deliver a more proficient service to customers. Nottingham City Council is similarly striving to enhance and strengthen its own core working practices and to optimise the efficiency of work spaces by creating a single site Head Office as well as remodelling neighbourhood offices.
The workplace strategy will involve a thorough audit of Council processes, procedures and assets.
Resulting recommendations following the audit and other benchmarking exercises will drive change in working options, benefits and will pinpoint the requirement for any additional investment.
The Turner & Townsend and Nottingham City Council joint project team will seek to make a real difference to cost efficiency but will aim to achieve a tangible change to the working conditions of staff, particularly those keen to explore the possibility of mobile and flexible working.
Jim White, Director of Turner & Townsend, said: "Local Authorities more than any of our clients need to operate with transparency and must constantly seek improvement in areas that will save much needed public sector resources. In working in partnership with Turner & Townsend on the workplace strategy, Nottingham City Council is sending a very clear message that the Local Authority is keen to invest in programmes which will enhance the opportunity for releasing efficiencies; something which is meaningful for both staff and the local community."
