Free Insulation Scheme Brings Warmth To The Spen Valley

The Free Kirklees Warm Zone home insulation project is returning to the Spen Valley this month when it enters the Liversedge and Gomersal ward.

The scheme, backed by Kirklees Council, will visit every household in the area, street by street, offering free loft and cavity wall insulation to every suitable household.

The project has already benefited thousands of local people, helping them feel warmer and more comfortable in their homes and save money on their fuel bills. Warm Zone aims to improve the thermal conditions of all households in the district and help tackle climate change to achieve a 'low carbon' Kirklees.

As well as home insulation, households are offered a free carbon monoxide detector, a home energy report and energy saving light bulbs. Some residents will also be eligible for a central heating grant and competitive deals for installing new energy efficient boilers. Warm Zone works with a number of partner organisations to provide additional support, including benefit and debt advice, fire safety checks, water conservation advice and support for carers.
