After a judging process that would put even the Oscars in the shade, leading paint brand Leyland Trade is thrilled to announce that it has chosen three painters and decorators to become the faces of the brand in 2009.
The 'Get on With It!' competition was launched at the end of last year to find the most loyal Leyland Trade users, with the favourite entry picked to become the face of Leyland. However, the sheer scale and quality of the entries meant that not one, but three winners, Frank Snell, Darren Robinson and Kate Roberts will all have their moment in the spotlight, appearing in a string of adverts scheduled to run across the trade press.
In addition to the winners appearing in their own adverts, over 100 Leyland Trade goodie bags were sent out as runner up prizes with the top ten entries also receiving a Sony digital radio and overall winner John Dobson scooping a brand new laptop.
John has also been chosen alongside Desmond Cass and Stephen Magill to represent the brand by being featured on the ‘Trade Up’ section of Leyland's exciting new website www.leylandtrade.com.
Leyland Marketing Manager Nicki Hickman said: "The response to the competition was fantastic, with entries from Independent Stockists and Decorating Centres, The National Painting and Decorating Show and the Leyland Trade website highlighting how important the Leyland brand is to so many in the industry. The quality of the entrants was just incredible so we had no hesitation in boosting the number of winners from one to three - whoever said 'three's a crowd' clearly didn’t have to judge the 'Get on With It!' competition!"
Winner Frank Snell (Advantage Decorators, Essex) has been a loyal and 'royal' user of Leyland for over 40 years, using the famous paint on the set of the James Bond film Casino Royale and even at Windsor Castle.
"Quality that betters the best and price that beats the rest, that's what makes Leyland Vinyl Matt our closely guarded secret," explained Frank. It might not be for much longer, though!
Working for First Choice Homes in Oldham, Kate Roberts and her team are responsible for the repainting and refurbishment of council homes across the town, using exclusively Leyland paint. Kate says: "I have always used Leyland paints since I first went to college. I believe it is a brand that I can trust to perform on the job it was made for. I also really enjoy visiting my local Leyland supplier as the staff are always friendly and helpful."
Darren Robinson (B Robinson & Sons Ltd, Sutton Coldfield) describes his favourite Leyland product as the Truguard Smooth Masonry and admits he has been enjoying the benefits of Leyland since being introduced to the brand by his granddad over 15 years ago.
He said: "The Truguard Smooth Masonry is an excellent product from start to finish, provides excellent coverage and is superb to apply. Thank you Leyland!"
