Local People Asked To Decide On Plans For Community Developments

Local people are to be asked to decide on the shape of multi-million pound youth and community developments being planned for the Cedars Youth Centre and Cedars Hall site in Harrow.

An ambitious scheme is being considered on the Cedars Estate site with exciting new facilities and meeting places for residents at its heart.

It is being driven by a £4.2 million Government grant, secured in partnership by Harrow Council and Watford FC's Community Sports and Education Trust, which would fund a new youth and community centre on the Cedars Youth Centre site. These state-of-the-art facilities would be for the use of the whole community.

Harrow Council will also work with the voluntary sector to help them find a less costly solution to existing buildings they were considering using on the site.

However, the Council stresses that involvement of local residents is crucial in deciding what changes take place on the Cedars Estate.

Cllr David Ashton, Leader of Harrow Council, said: "We know local people have strong views on what sort of developments are right for this site. The important thing to stress is that local people will be involved with what is developed here. We think they will be as excited as we are by the kind of options being considered."
