T&T Projects Wins 50th Anniversary Civic Trust Awards
Two of Turner & Townsend's projects in Yorkshire have received accolades from the Civic Trust Awards, regarded as one of the most respected and valued public realm award schemes.
Celebrating their 50th anniversary this year, the Civic Trust Awards recognised five projects in the Yorkshire and Humber region including the Rotunda Museum in Scarborough and the Leeds City Museum.
Turner & Townsend provided full project management support on the redevelopment and refurbishment of the Rotunda Museum in Scarborough. Originally opened in 1829, the museum is now a real asset for local people and visitors to Scarborough. The judges commented: "The interiors are good, and maximize the use of space, with the staircase being particularly clever. Attention to internal detail is excellent and well planned."
For Leeds City Museum, Turner & Townsend provided project management expertise to provide new routes, access and gallery areas through a combination of restoration and adaptation . The judges commented: "The scheme represents a real improvement to the public realm, and is a good example of inner city urban regeneration."
Mike Lumb, Director, Turner & Townsend said: "We are delighted that the Rotunda and Leeds City Museum have been recognised by the Civic Trust. Both projects offer fantastic cultural facilities for their communities and provide major contributions to the regeneration of the towns and cities they serve."
The projects are amongst six Turner & Townsend schemes short-listed in the RICS Pro-Yorkshire Awards, which takes place in Leeds next month.
