Mastercut Expand With New Warehouse
On the 1st November 2008 Mastercut acquired another 5,000 sq. foot manufacturing warehouse and office space in Clay Cross to compliment the existing, cramped 4,500 sq ft facility. The extra floor space will be used for additional warehousing and a special products machine cell and Heat Treatment capacity.
At Chesterfield Mastercut have installed a new CNC machine 'HAAS VF10 Machining Centre', ensuring the up-to-date technology enabling the company to be able to cater better for customer requirements. CNC Machining (Computer Numerical Control) has radically changed the manufacturing industry; enabling curves to be cut as easily as straight lines, and complex 3D structures are relatively easy to produce. With the increased automation of manufacturing processes with CNC machining, considerable improvements in consistency and quality have been achieved. CNC automation reduces the frequency of errors and provides CNC operators with more time to carry out quality checks. It also allows for more flexibility in the manufacturing process and reduces make-ready times.
In October 2008 Mastercut acquired Barker & England who have been established for over 100 years and are manufacturers of all types of Machine Knives.
Whilst the company can manufacture and supply knives for all the standard range of machines, they also specialise in the manufacture of specialist knives to a customers own design, and would be able to make either large or small quantities using the wealth of experience gained over many years. Because of the specialist nature of the manufacturing programme it is difficult to illustrate all the knives we produce and therefore we ask customers to forward details of what they require.
