City To Gain Diploma Learning Centre

Young people in Wolverhampton will soon be benefiting from a major new learning centre containing state of the art facilities and equipment thanks to £4.5 million funding from the Government.

The Diploma Learning Centre will be open to learners from across the city who are studying on one of the new 14 to 19 Diploma courses, for which Wolverhampton is already among the leading local authorities in the country.

Cabinet Member for Schools, Councillor Gill Fellows, welcomed this latest achievement for Wolverhampton: "I am absolutely delighted that the city has again been recognised for its work in 14 to 19 learning.

"We already have achieved Beacon Council status and this further announcement will give us a facility that provides us with a truly world class learning space and help to embed the Diploma in the city."

The new centre, containing flexible learning spaces which can be converted from lecture theatre to exhibition hall to workshops and classrooms, draws its design principles and inspiration from state of the art high impact business facilities.

It is designed to allow Diploma students to learn in a variety of environments which reflect industry standard real-life business and commercial settings.

There will be video-conferencing equipment, high specification computer networks linked to an online learning environment, as well as display and exhibition equipment.
