Open Day At New Welsh Assembly Government Office
The Welsh Assembly Government and Pochin Construction are hosting an Open Day at the site of the new Welsh Assembly Government office at Llandudno Junction on Saturday 6 June.
Construction of the new office, which will be the largest Welsh Assembly Government office outside Cardiff, is due to be completed in Spring 2010, with staff starting to move in during the Summer.
The public are invited to come to the Visitor Centre, next to the site, to see new images of what the building will look like when it's finished, see a new animation of the building and meet the Construction Team.
Visitors will also be able to go on the site itself to see the building, although access into the new building will not be possible for health and safety reasons.
First Minister Rhodri Morgan said: "The Welsh Assembly Government made the commitment that by 2010 new offices will be established in Merthyr Tydfil, Aberystwyth and Llandudno Junction, bringing the full breadth of Assembly Government services closer to the people of Wales.
"The new Welsh Assembly Government office in Llandudno Junction is something the whole of North Wales can be proud of.
"With a design inspired by the area's heritage and local slate used throughout, the Llandudno Junction office will be a striking building. It is being built to high environmental standards with features including natural light and ventilation, recycling rainwater and biomass heating. We are also committed to using local suppliers whenever possible, and to date £8m has been committed locally.
"Now that the building is really taking shape I'm sure many people would like to take the opportunity to see what this exciting building will look like when completed, and see what it looks like now. It will also be an opportunity to meet the Construction Team and Welsh Assembly Government staff."
