May Gurney Awarded Extended Network Rail Contract

Network Rail has extended and expanded May Gurney's contract to replace, restore and maintain the UK's rail network structures until 2012.

It's all part of May Gurney and Network Rail's commitment to delivering a smooth travelling experience for rail users while causing minimum disruption to nearby communities.

It is estimated that the contract extension will bring in approximately £20-25m per annum of work as a result, plus possible additional enhancement works.

Work will include maintenance and renewal projects, including the reconstruction and refurbishment of bridges, along with embankment stabilisation and viaduct repairs.

John Wilkinson, Managing Director of Rail at May Gurney, said the new contract was a result of the firm's approach to "excellent engineering, an integrated service delivery and efficiency".

He said: "We're delighted to maintain this strong relationship with Network Rail, and we're especially pleased with the extended geographical coverage, which is testament to the high quality work we’ve already delivered for our client. It's also a credit to our team working in and around the UK's rail network; ensuring commuters can travel with minimum disruption."
