Carpenter Peter Thirkill from Hatton has become the 400th member of Derbyshire County Council's Trusted Trader scheme.

Trusted Trader was set up in November 2008 to help local people find reliable local traders.

And now 400 traders in Derbyshire have been accepted as members.

There's every sort of trader on the list from plumbers, electricians, painters and roofers, to glaziers, joiners, drain clearers and more.


David Lathrope, Trusted Trader development officer, said: "I'm delighted to welcome Peter to Trusted Trader.

"Many people worry about finding a trader so we set up Trusted Trader to give residents confidence in finding someone reliable, as well as boosting good local businesses."

Businesses who are Trusted Traders will have been carefully checked out by the council's trading standards team.

Traders have to be based in Derbyshire or do half their work in the county to make the list.
