Work to boost capacity and accessibility at Stratford Regional Station - the main gateway station to the Olympic Park - has now reached the halfway point.

Passengers are already experiencing the benefits of the £100 million investment in the station made by the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA).

Platforms have been widened and extended, and old station buildings have been demolished to create more space for passengers.


Two new lifts are already in service. A total of nine new lifts are planned to make the station more accessible for everyone.

The two new London Overground platforms have recently opened and a new westbound Central Line platform, which will help boost capacity, is taking shape.

ODA Chairman John Armitt said: "Stratford station will be the gateway for spectators arriving at the Games and it is very reassuring that we are making such great progress.

"There is of course still a long way to go till the work is finished at the end of next year, but commuters and residents will really have noticed a difference at the station recently as the work has come on in leaps and bounds."

The improvements to Stratford station are due to be complete by the end of 2010.
