Leyland Trade Races Back To Its Roots
One of the UK's most prestigious transport museums is enjoying life back in the fast lane after a helping hand from leading paint brand Leyland Trade.
The main floor of the British Commercial Vehicle Museum in Leyland, Lancashire had endured years of wear and tear from visitors eager to explore the rich history of road transport industry and was in desperate need of a makeover for the busy 2009 summer season.
Step up one of the Lancashire town's most famous exports, Leyland Trade, which raced into pole position and made a generous donation of 210 litres of Heavy Duty Floor Paint to ensure the museum floor benefited from a sparkling transformation.
The project was not without its challenges for the four staff tasked with transforming the museum floor from a downtrodden space into a vibrant area fit for hosting one of the UK's most important heritage collections.
Vehicles had to be moved one at a time in order for the Tile Red paint to be applied and then carefully placed back into position, ensuring there were no marks or scuffs on the newly applied paint.
Trustee of the British Commercial Vehicle Museum, Stephen Bullock, said: "The floor within the exhibition hall of the British Commercial Vehicle Museum has received a lot of punishment over the years, both from the movement of the exhibits and the passage of many thousands of feet.
"The Museum needs a very high quality floor paint to withstand the wear and tear and also offer a vibrant colour to enhance the visitor experience. The Museum has used Leyland Trade for many years and is always pleased with its ease of application, quick drying time and long lasting appearance. The technical advice provided by the Leyland team was also much appreciated."
Leyland brand manager Nicki Hickman added: "When we heard that the British Commercial Vehicle Museum was looking for a facelift we were delighted to step in and offer our assistance. Not only was it an honour to provide support to an important cultural landmark in Leyland Trade's original home, but we also felt we had the best product to suit its needs. The Heavy Duty Floor Paint provides a hardwearing, protective, satin finish and is ideal for use on concrete, steel and wooden floors. It’s also resistant to mild chemicals, water, oil and grease – something I’m sure there would be plenty of at a vehicle museum."
