Dortek Launch New Fire Rated Vision Panels

Construction News Image
A market leader in the manufacture and installation of hygienic performance door sets into pharmaceutical, healthcare and laboratory environments, Dortek, has recently complimented its already extensive door range with a range of vision panels built to the same standards.

The concealed fixed stainless steel frame profile can match that of the door, whilst the glazing can be flush with the frame to either one or both faces. One of the many options is to incorporate integral blinds to offer restricted viewing or privacy as the user requires. The units are bespoke, built to suit individual site dimensions & wall constructions.

Until recently however the product was not available as a certified fire rated option, but following ever increasing industry & customer demands, we are pleased to announce the recent successful completion of an official test to BS EN 1364-1 standards.

Dortek's Technical Director, Les Blennerhassett, outlines the procedure.

"A flush glazed, stainless steel framed vision panel measuring 1360 × 1160 was installed without any visible fixings into the wall of a test cell at Bodycote Warrington Fire Research Centre.

"The wall is then positioned over the face of a furnace, which rapidly heats to in excess of 1,000°c.

"The vision panel showed no signs of breakdown for well in excess of 60 minutes, therefore giving Dortek a product fully certified to both 30 minutes and 60 minutes for integrity in accordance with BS EN 1364-1. The Research Centre have also confirmed that there is ample evidence to provide an official assessment for the full two hour test period.

"With ongoing product innovation and enhancement of our range, specifying Dortek for a complete door & window package has never made more sense."
