The new framework, due to go live on the 1 August, has been developed by Devon County Council to deliver construction projects in excess of £1 million. It is expected that it will potentially turnover approximately £500 million over the next four years.
Over 20 public bodies, comprising of local authorities, emergency services, further education colleges and universities have expressed interest in using the framework for future construction projects. It will be used for the first time in August for an Exeter Primary School.
The eleven organisations, which are a mixture of small to large local, regional and national firms, are:
- BAM Construction Ltd
- Beard
- Builders Consortium South West, which is a consortium made up of ER Hemmings (Building) Ltd, Pearce Construction (Barnstaple) Ltd, RJ Leighfield Son Ltd, and CS Williams (Taunton) Ltd
- Interserve Project services Ltd
- ISG Pearce Ltd
- Kier Regional Ltd

Devon County Council has led the framework development with financial support from the South West Regional Improvement and Efficiency Partnership (SW RIEP). The Council will maintain it to make sure it operates smoothly over the next four years.
Councillor John Clatworthy, Devon County Council's Cabinet Member for Finance and Property said: "This framework will bring a range of benefits to the organisations it serves.
"A similar construction framework in the south east for example has resulted in cost savings for its member authorities, reductions in contract times, and improved quality of work."
