Interserve Wins Place on £500m South-West Construction Framework

Construction News Image
Interserve, the services, maintenance and building group, has won a place on the Construction Framework South West (CFSW), worth a possible £500 million over the next four years. Ten other contractors are also involved.

The framework is intended for new-build or refurbishment construction projects in excess of £1 million. Typical projects would include schools and other educational facilities, civic buildings, leisure facilities, emergency services premises and health service buildings.

Devon County Council has led the development of the framework programme and is providing the management team. The framework will be available to local authorities and other public bodies throughout the south-west, encompassing Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Dorset, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire. These include county, district, borough and city councils, police and fire authorities, health services, universities and further education colleges, housing associations and national parks.

Under the CFSW model contractors will be selected during the feasibility stage so that they can offer advice before and during the design phase. This early contractor involvement has been shown to reduce overall project risk and cost and to result in timely project delivery.

Adrian Ringrose, Chief Executive of Interserve, said: "Interserve has a long and successful history of delivering facilities for the community in the south-west. Our projects have ranged from schools, hospitals and fire stations to the recently-completed Dobwalls bypass and the National Maritime Museum in Falmouth, and we welcome the opportunity to continue our relationship with the region."
