Originally operating out of a farm building in Markfied, Leicestershire, Tony Cooper, the founder of Markfield Woodworking Machinery (MWM) started out refurbishing used machinery. Since the company was established in 1979 it has went from strength to strength and in 1989 after continued success, MWM moved in to a new purpose built unit.
In more recent years, due to the increase in new machinery sales, MWM have had a new showroom built to demonstrate and display machinery from some of the worlds leading woodworking machinery manufactures.
Today MWM is still a family run business which prides itself on offering a friendly, professional and personal service. They have been dealing with many of their customers for more than 20 years, and have a machinery portfolio which can assist in a company’s development, from small start up workshops to full automated production lines.
Over the years MWM have continued to supply used woodworking machinery, as well as refurbished and new woodworking machinery. Last month, Markfield Woodworking Machinery supplied used machinery to Cameroon in western Africa. This export allowed the machines to be used as part of a new joinery workshop which doubles up as a training facility to help under privileged youngsters. Dr Didi, who is a local teacher and carpenter, set up this project, which trains the youngsters for the future in the art of carpentry.
