Galliford Try Secures £83m Of Hotel & Residential Contracts
Galliford Try, the construction and housebuilding group, has been appointed on four contracts in the hotel and residential sectors valued at a total of £82.8 million.
The first contract of £30 million for RMH (Guildford) LLP involves developing a 186-bedroom Radisson Hotel in Guildford along with 38 apartments and a three-storey underground car park. Completion is expected by July 2011. The development will achieve a "Very Good" BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) rating.
The second contract is for £28 million and will see Galliford Try undertaking the redevelopment of Coworth Park Estate in Sunningdale, Berkshire, to create the new five star 68-room Coworth Park Country House Hotel for Dorchester Collection.
Galliford Try will carry out the rebuild and fit-out of the estate’s manor house; the refurbishment of the existing stable blocks and estate cottages to form new guestrooms and suites; the refurbishment and extension to the existing barn to create a new restaurant and the construction of a new spa and swimming pool. Completion is expected by May 2010.
Galliford Try has also been awarded a £16.8 million contract to undertake a major redevelopment on the Heythrop Park Resort in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire for the Firoka Group. The works comprise the refurbishment of 104 existing guestrooms and the creation of a further 93 guestrooms along with an extensive refurbishment of the public spaces including a new ballroom and conferencing facility to accommodate 300 plus persons. The hotel will hold the Crowne Plaza brand and be the first of its kind in the UK.
In the residential sector Galliford Try has been awarded an £8 million contract to build a seven-storey 136-room student accommodation block for Infrastructure Investments Limited in Wakeley Street, London.
Work is expected to be completed by Summer 2010.
Greg Fitzgerald, Chief Executive, commented: "We are delighted to be awarded these significant contracts in the hotel and residential sector which build on our long track record in these markets and demonstrate our ability to win valuable projects in the commercial sector as well as for our long standing public sector client base."
