In its normal unlocked position the valve allows free flow of water in the outward direction, but will close in the event of reverse flow. In the event of a spill or fire, the valve is forced closed either by auto sensor alert or manual panic button. In locked mode the valve will ensure that the pollution (spillage / firewater) is safely contained within the drain. This will buy enough time to have the pollutant sucked out, recycled and where possible re-used. The valve can then be returned to it’s unlocked position to allow normal flow. Unlike inflatable bladder systems, this valve can be used daily and will remain closed even in the event of a power failure. There is also a decant valve that can be fitted to ease extraction of the contained substance.
