What is damp?
The definition of dampness is. 'Where there is water in sufficient quantities to cause problems which are unacceptable' Resulting in decorative spoiling, timber decay and staining.
Rising Damp causes spoiled decorations, Wet rot, Dry Rot and Ruined plaster.
Rising dampness can affect both old and more modern houses, particularly those which do not have an existing damp-proof course installed, or where an old DPC has perished and failed or has been damaged due to incorrect work specifications.
The source or cause of the dampness is often misdiagnosed due to the surveys being undertaken by unqualified or inexperienced surveyors, resulting in inappropriate damp-proofing and wasted money – we take care to diagnose your damp problem properly and a damp course is specified, only when needed and when it will be effective.
