BER (Building Energy Rating) Legislation and market size

• From Jan 1st 2007 all new dwellings must have a BER cert by law
• From July 1st 2008 all new commercial and industrial buildings require a BER cert by law
• From Jan 1st 2009 all existing dwellings being rented or sold must have a BER cert by law
• Combined this means approximately 150,000 buildings will require a BER certificate each year

Renewable Energy Installer & Greener Homes Scheme From 1st July 2008 all new dwellings must have Renewable Energy technology installed to meet building regulations, creating an entirely new market for renewable installers.

SEI’s Greener Homes Scheme provides grant assistance to homeowners requiring this technology

In the last 18 months SEI (Sustainable Energy Ireland) have already awarded 18,000 grants

The scheme requires that ALL Renewable Installations be carried out ONLY by registered installers
